2020 BOND REFERENDUM SPECIAL ELECTION COVID-19 UPDATE AND VOTING OPTIONS

In response to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Benson Public Schools wants to keep you informed about the upcoming 2020 Bond Referendum Special Election. The decision to postpone or cancel a special election is one that is made by the State of Minnesota Governor’s Office and at this time a cancellation has NOT been made. Cancellation or postponement cannot be decided by the School District alone. At this time, the Special Election WILL still take place on April 14, 2020 as planned. We appreciate your support during these uncertain times.

 

For the 2020 Bond referendum, you have three options to place your vote:

 

  1. ABSENTEE BY MAIL

    (COVID-19 RECOMMENDED)
    Request an absentee ballot by completing the Absentee Ballot Application and place your vote by mail.

  2. ABSENTEE IN PERSON
    Vote in person on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Swift County Courthouse Auditor’s Office, 301 14th Street N., Benson, MN 56215. Be sure to bring a completed Absentee Ballot Application. Precautions for your health and safety will be taken.

  3.  IN PERSON APRIL 14
    At this time, the special election will still take place as planned. The polls will be open Tuesday, April 14, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Benson City Armory, 203 14th Street South, Benson, MN 56215. Precautions for your health and safety will be taken.

ABSENTEE VOTING BY MAIL INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Request an absentee ballot by completing the Absentee Ballot Application. Be sure to follow all of the application instructions. (You may make copies of the application provided for additional voters in your home. If you prefer, you can also complete the application online at https://www.mnvotes.org.)
  2. Place your completed application inside a size 10 envelope.
  3. Apply appropriate postage and mail to:

Benson, MN 56215

(If you prefer, you may leave your completed application in the Drop Box outside the Courthouse.)

 

ABSENTEE VOTING IN PERSON INSTRUCTIONS

 

  1. Complete the Absentee Ballot Application. Be sure to follow all of the application instructions. (You may make copies of the application provided for additional voters in your home.)
  2. On Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to  3 p.m., bring your completed application to the Swift County Courthouse Auditor’s Office at 301 14th Street N., Benson, MN 56215 and place your vote in-person
  3. Precautions for your health and safety will be taken.
