Welcome to Mrs. Kurtzbein's class
I have worked in the Benson School District for the past 20 years. 19 of those years I spent teaching fifth and sixth grade special education. This year I started a new position on the Special Education Assessment Team (SEAT). I have also been the Head Girls Track coach for the past 17 years.
As a member of the SEAT team, I do K-12 special education evaluations. I mainly conduct the academic testing and do the behavioral portion of the assessment. The SEAT team is responsible for all new assessments and re assessments. Federal law mandates that students that receive special education services be re evaluated every 3 years to see if they continue to qualify for special education services.
I am a graduate of Dawson-Boyd High School. I got my undergraduate teaching degree at Moorhead State University. I received my masters degree from Southwest Minnesota State University, and I am working on finishing my Administrative license through Hamline University in St. Paul. I have 3 daughters. The oldest two are in college and my youngest is a sophomore at Dawson-Boyd High School.
